Requirements for Advancement Between Grades

Decision The ORDINANCES & REGULATIONS OF UTAH COLLEGE, and the CONSTITUTIONS OF THE HIGH COUNCIL, require Chief Adepts to establish requirements for advancement that are “appropriate to the development of the individual are in keeping with the tenets and precepts of Rosicrucianism.”


As Chief Adept of Utah College, it is my decision the following procedures and requirements satisfy the intent and spirit and the definitions and requirements set forth in the ORDINANCES & REGULATIONS, and the CONSTITUTIONS, and are appropriate to the development of the individual, and are in keeping with the tenets and precepts of Rosicrucianism.


I hereby establish these procedures and requirements as necessary for Advancement effective January 1, 2018. These requirements supersede all previously published requirements, and these requirements remain in effect until the end of the term of the Chief Adept, or are otherwise modified at his sole discretion.

Advancement between Grades of the First Order

Fraters, completing the following requirements to the satisfaction of the Celebrant, will be eligible for advancement to the next grade of the First Order.

  1. Satisfactory attendance at meetings in their current Grade; and

  2. 9 months service in the current Grade; and

  3. A satisfactory demonstration of an understanding of thesymbols, ideas and concepts of the Frater’s current Grade; and

  4. Performance of a speaking part in the Ritual of the Frater’scurrent Grade to the satisfaction of the Celebrant; and

  5. If the Frater is a Theoricus, Practicus, or Philosophus theadditional performance of a speaking part in the Ritual of alesser Grade, to the satisfaction of the Celebrant.

Advancement from the First Order to the Second Order

Philosophi, completing the following requirements to the satisfaction of the Chief Adept, will be eligible for entrance into the Second Order.

  1. A reputation of generosity, integrity, discretion, devotion,dedication, forbearance, and gratitude as determined by theChief Adept; and

  2. Satisfactory attendance in the First Order; and

  3. Not less than, 3 (three) years of service in the First Order;and

  4. Performance of a speaking part in 2 (two) of the First Order Grades not previously performed, to the satisfaction of the Advisory Council; and

  5. Demonstration of a satisfactory understanding of the esoteric and exoteric ideas and concepts presented in each Grade of the First Order; and

  6. Submission of a Work demonstrating a satisfactory understanding of theosophical, Rosicrucian, Hermetic,Artistic, Scientific, and Philosophical concepts.Advancement between Grades of the Second Order

Advancement between Grades of the Second Order

  1. One (1) year of service between Adept grades; and

  2. Demonstration of a satisfactory understanding of the esoteric and exoteric ideas and concepts of the current Grade; and

  3. Performance of duties given listed for the Grade in the Ritual, and;

  4. Recommendation by an Adept of a higher grade, or a member of the Third Order.
